Things to Keep in Mind When Running the Mold

First, prep. Check that all water-hose fittings are tightened. Apply food-grade lubricant to the guide pins and bushings, the lower clamp area of the bottom mold, and the bottom mold sleeve.

Second, storage. During downtime, clean and maintain both the inner molding surface and the outer surface. Inspect the inner molding for accidental damage—if the cavity surface gets scratched, that scratch will show up on every bottle. Also, every 72 hours of operation, apply a suitable amount of food-grade lubricant to the guide pins, guide bushings, and bottom mold sleeve.

  • Trace Line Defects Back to the Mold

Bottle appearance, roundness, internal suction/paneling, and similar issues on the line point back to the mold. If flash appears at the parting line, check whether there is a gap at the parting surface after the mold closes, and also check for misalignment in the inner molding. If bottles don’t stand flat or tip over easily, look at the bottle height in the mold design, the base angle, and the bottle’s center-of-gravity height.
